 Ross Juniors U12’S v FC Phoenix U12’s

Sunday 2nd October 2011 Away Game KO 10.30am

A very hot day in Ross today as the temperature reached 30 degrees. Jaytee had forgotten his socks so he had to wait to start as his dad went home to get them! Not such a perfect game as FC Phoenix worked really hard, yet only two goals went in the net. This could have so easily come back to bite us as Ross had a couple of counter attacks and if they had been successful then we could have seen ourselves losing 3 points. In fact FC Phoenix were the better side on the day and I’m sure the temperature had a lot to do with the score as we had numerous attempts and it should have been 0-12 but it just wasn’t to be on the day.

The game was disrupted a little as the referee thought Dean had been dis-respectful to him after he had blown for an offside. The truth was the parents didn’t think it was offside so they shouted, “That wasn’t offside!”. Then when Dean shouted, “Watch that then Gouphy!” I’m sure the referee thought he had sworn. Gouphy actually spoke to the referee himself and told him it was a mistake, so a pat on the back is deserved for him. Congratulations were given to the boys for an excellent show of respect.

Take nothing away from the boys though they worked really hard for the 3 points. Gouphy had numerous shots on goal but the Ross keeper and the woodwork prevented the ball from entering the net.

The goals came from Ols and Tommo, putting Tommo on 2 goals in 2 games and placing Ollie at the top of the score board. I can’t help feeling it could have been better today and we’re hoping that the boys can play better and put the ball in the net when we play Leominster in the 2nd round of the cup to follow next week.
