Congratulations to FC Phoenix U8's for qualifying for the Daniel Cooper Memorial Cup held at Edgar Street starting at 9.45am on Sunday 21st April 2013. And congratulations again to FC Phoenix Under 13's for winning the semi final on 9th December 2012 verses Ludlow Arrows. Although unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances FC Phoenix U13 will forfeit the final and by default the opportunity should be given to Ludlow Arrows. Ludlow will now play the final against Pegasus Juniors U13 at Edgar Street, the home of Hereford United on 20th April 2013 at 11.30am. Entrance costs for spectators are £3 for adults and £1 for children and OAP's.

We understand this has caused major disappointment to players and fans and FC Phoenix apologise for this.

FC Phoenix Penalty King 2012

FC Phoenix Penalty King 2012

Congratulations to "Sweeney" who won the penalty competition on Thursday 27th September 2012. Sweeney has taken the title, "FC Phoenix Penalty King 2012". Dan Johnston offered his time to try and stop all the lads from scoring from their peno's. Dan isn't a push over in goal as his pedigree goes back several years. He played for Shrewsbury Town and Hereford United so well done to Sweeney for putting 10 of his 14 penalties past Dan. There were a number of quality shots and a fight for second and third place so well done to all.

FC Phoenix Badge

FC Phoenix are looking for new volunteer football coaches who live in Hereford to help us grow and move to the next level. You don't have to be experienced, just have an understanding of football. You will be required to complete an FA CRB check and if you offer your dedication to FC Phoenix then any football courses that you complete will be refunded.
We have had a lot of interest in the positions available and we would like to note that all positions are based in Hereford and you shouldn't mistake FC Phoenix in Hereford with any other Phoenix clubs nationwide. We need coaches who locally so short notice assistance would be possible. Own transport is essential so if you're interested then please contact us with your details and we will contact you back with more information.

It's a great rewarding role and if you have a child they can join you which is excellent for parent and child bonding.

Under 12 Football Cup Final at Edgar Street

posted 13 May 2012 00:43 by Dean Johnston   [ updated 13 May 2012 07:17 ]

FC Phoenix v Pegasus Juniors
Venue: Hereford United's Edgar Street Ground. KO:10am 12th May 2012

Congratulations to FC Phoenix under 12's for winning the Edgar Street final against Pegasus Juniors 1-0 on 12th May 2012. The under 12's final was the first of many finals to be held at Edgar Street this weekend and a good start it was too!

FC Phoenix were happy before they entered the ground because this was to be the first time using the Hereford United home dressing room, several times they've been in the away dressing room and we know it's not a big thing but it was certainly a boost to the players. Everything was well organised by the Herefordshire officials and ran smoothly for everybody. A team talk in the dressing room followed by the usual professional warm up proved to be the ice breaker as everybody settled into their role well. After the warm up followed another chat in the changing room before the bell rang to get ready. The excitement was certainly growing as all the players lined up in the hallway waiting to be called and everybody was given instructions whilst the referee checked for no jewellery and suitable boot studs. Then entering the field was where it all became real as the fans cheered everybody onto the pitch.

All the players, managers, coaches and officials lined up on the pitch to shake hands before the players proceeded with their confidence boosting huddle. The huddle only usually done by FC Phoenix was also done by Pegasus Juniors today. "Phoenix" was shouted by the boys, the subs sat in the dug out and the players got into position.

The first half was by far the better half for FC Phoenix and they dominated the half after a slow 5 minute start. The passing wasn't as great as it normally is as Pegasus put on the pressure but this was expected. The line up to start was a tactical plan as a couple of the usual team starters sat on the bench waiting for their chance to make a difference.

The starting line up:
* Meds (goal keeper)
* Powler (defence) * Wilffy (defence) * Braderz (defence)
* Ols (midfield) * Tommo (midfield) * Dazzo (midfield) * Troyster (midfield)
* Lewwy (striker)
Subs: * Gouphy * Sheers * Jimster * Jaytee * Azzo

The first half was a battle and FC Phoenix deservedly got a goal. An exquisite pass from Lewwy knocked on by Pegasus set up Ols who slotted the ball away. Well done to Lewwy for finding Ols whilst under pressure and well done to Ols for keeping his focus and hitting the ball into the net!

The second half was also a battle and Pegasus were certainly looking stronger. A few mistakes were forced upon FC Phoenix as the game changed. A well placed back pass from Wilffy to Meds saw the dependable FC Phoenix keeper slip onto his butt and everybody had their stomach in their mouths as the ball trickled inches past the post to go out for a corner! Luckily for FC Phoenix, Pegasus must have been convinced the ball was going in as they all stood and watched in disbelief. It was mentioned by several players after the game that the game was made difficult with the full size goals sat behind the 9v9 goals and this would explain why we had more balls in the full size net instead of the 9v9 goal. This was also considered to be the reason why Pegasus stopped during the pass back because it looked as though it was clearly going in.

This game finished 1-0 for an FC Phoenix win and congratulations go out to them and to Pegasus for creating such a good final. WELL DONE!!!

Bad weather hits Hereford and the Football League

posted 4 Feb 2012 02:23 by Dean Johnston

The weekend's fixtures in the Herefordshire Junior Football League have been heavily affected by the freezing conditions. It will be no shock to find all games postponed. Temperatures as low as -12C are expected during this weekend. Snow has started to fall in Herefordshire already and with the ground so cold it's expected to stick. The cold weather has hit the larger professional football clubs so smaller amateur clubs have almost no chance of playing until the warmth returns.

FC PHOENIX U12 v LEDBURY SWIFTS ATHETIC

posted 22 Jan 2012 06:11 by Dean Johnston

FC PHOENIX U12’S v LEDBURY SWIFTS ATHETIC U12’s
 Sunday 4th December 2011 Home Game KO 10.30am
RESULT 3-0
This wasn’t the most simple game FC Phoenix have played. Ledbury arrived with intent and were determined not to except defeat before it had happened. We know Ledbury can play some good football and the last time we played them was at the Fownhope tournament where they gained a deserved point. This season they have had some very interesting results; they only lost to Hinton by one goal and they got a valuable point away at the current league leaders Leominster Minors.
FC Phoenix did work hard and a couple of players who have had less football recently managed to get more of a game. The change in formation upset the cart a little bit but they lads were enjoying the game and did get some chances. Ledbury had chances on the break but the FC Phoenix defence were fluent, IF IN DOUBT?
The FC Phoenix master goal scorer Gouphy got his name on the score sheet again with two great goals yet had they not have gone in, then there were a lot of lads waiting for a tap in. Troyster has been in the top four on the score stats as well this season and added another to his tally in this game, keeping the rest of the lads on their toes for second spot in the goal scorers table. Sheers started in left midfield & although the rest of the boys did well, he was on top of his game with great strength, passing, moving & ball supply & deserved a mention.
