The weekend's fixtures in the Herefordshire Junior Football League have been heavily affected by the freezing conditions. It will be no shock to find all games postponed. Temperatures as low as -12C are expected during this weekend. Snow has started to fall in Herefordshire already and with the ground so cold it's expected to stick. The cold weather has hit the larger professional football clubs so smaller amateur clubs have almost no chance of playing until the warmth returns.

FC PHOENIX U12’S v LEDBURY SWIFTS ATHETIC U12’s
Sunday 4th December 2011 Home Game KO 10.30am
RESULT 3-0
This wasn’t the most simple game FC Phoenix have played. Ledbury arrived with intent and were determined not to except defeat before it had happened. We know Ledbury can play some good football and the last time we played them was at the Fownhope tournament where they gained a deserved point. This season they have had some very interesting results; they only lost to Hinton by one goal and they got a valuable point away at the current league leaders Leominster Minors.
FC Phoenix did work hard and a couple of players who have had less football recently managed to get more of a game. The change in formation upset the cart a little bit but they lads were enjoying the game and did get some chances. Ledbury had chances on the break but the FC Phoenix defence were fluent, IF IN DOUBT?
The FC Phoenix master goal scorer Gouphy got his name on the score sheet again with two great goals yet had they not have gone in, then there were a lot of lads waiting for a tap in. Troyster has been in the top four on the score stats as well this season and added another to his tally in this game, keeping the rest of the lads on their toes for second spot in the goal scorers table. Sheers started in left midfield & although the rest of the boys did well, he was on top of his game with great strength, passing, moving & ball supply & deserved a mention.

FC PHOENIX U12’S v HINTON U12’s
Sunday 11th December 2011 Home Game KO 10.30am
RESULT 4-0
This was the semi final of the Under 12 Wyvern Flooring Cup and Hinton had beat three teams from the Stirling League to get here; Kington Town, Westfields and Ross United. FC Phoenix were victorious against Hinton in the Edgar Street cup final last season and were expecting their revenge in this game.
The FC Phoenix formation was changed again for this match and combined with the added effort and determination from the lads, this match was easier than expected. Not taking any respect away from the Hinton boys but I don’t think it is the best we have seen them play. We have always been used to seeing multi goal thrillers and goal saving spectaculars when playing Hinton so we can undoubtedly expect to have a harder time when we meet again in the league.
There were four different goal scorers today and this included a screamer from Wilffy, nobody was going to stop this one from going in. He hit it so sweet that the ball flew and swerved with great pace and he knew how good it was as everyone celebrated with him. Ollie scored again, Troyster got his name pinned to the scorers board the same as the week before and Tommo got another goal added to his tally. Admiration for Tommo must be expressed as he travelled from Manchester this morning and he was like a Talisman for FC Phoenix.

Philip Morris & Son are holding a free competition during January 2012 to win £250 worth of Kiln dried firewood supplied by
Certainly Wood the UK's largest specialist supplier of British Kiln dried logs and local Herefordshire company. It's easy to enter and it is open to anybody but it does end on 31st January 2012.
To enter, just answer the multiple choice question:
Why are kiln dried logs so much better for your wood burning stove than poorly seasoned wood?
a) They burn faster b) They burn with more heat, provide a clean burn and mean you need less logs c) They can cause a build-up of soot and tar in your chimney
Try your luck to win and remember it's open to anybody during January so if somebody you know might be interested then tell or enter for them, remember it's free!

LEOMINSTER MINORS U12’S v FC PHOENIX U12’s
Sunday 20th November 2011 Home Game KO 10.30am
RESULT 4-6
This game had to be by far the worst game FC Phoenix had played all season. Well they can’t be expected to play great every week can they? Well sorry but we do expect it every week, we don’t expect every player to have a great game every week but we do expect FC Phoenix to step up their play when things aren’t going so well. At times the passing was awesome but lads if you lose the ball, don’t worry, show us you want it and just get it back!
The team was quite disjointed as Meds was ill and key players played in positions they weren’t used to. For the first half of the game Jaytee was in goal and he was quite proud of the fact that he kept a clean sheet during this time and made some great saves as well as distribution of the ball. He played part of the 2nd half outfield & also scored a goal.
Troyster showed courage & went in goal for part of the second half & we commend him. He wasn’t the best at picking the ball up with his hands when he needed to & kept using his feet but that’s fine because when he played outfield his footwork was very good. FC Phoenix then had a 3rd goalie as Azzo stepped up & showed his determination. He cleared a crucial shot off the line, made some good decisions as well as scoring his first league goal for a very long time. His jubilation clearly showed in his celebration!
Ols got another goal, when Leominster was asked if it was an own goal they said no, give the goal to Ols which I expect he is quite glad about. Leominster scored 4 goals against us and they appeared happy with that as we looked nervous. The rest of the goal tally came from Gouphy. He over powered their defence, worked hard and walked away with another hat trick under his belt. Well done to all the lads but hopefully they put this game down to experience & get ready to step up their play for their next game against Pegasus Juniors and don’t concede any goals.

BARTESTREE JUNIORS U12’S V FC PHOENIX U12’S
Sunday 13th November 2011 Away Game KO 11.01am
RESULT 0-4
Remembrance Sunday (Armistice Day) was honoured by a change of match start time and a minute silence. Great respect was shown by all and this was the same throughout the game. It was good to see the ref, both teams, coaches and spectators showing their support for those who never make it back from military action.
Only a couple of weeks ago FC Phoenix were made to work very hard for their win against Bartestree Juniors but on this occasion you could see that FC Phoenix wanted the win more. Bartestree Juniors were under extreme pressure and with all their effort they were unable to keep the Phoenix from scoring and putting four past their keeper.
Lewwy started as he finished the last game and scored the first goal. Jaytee had another chance to get his goal from a free kick and this time it went in again but most importantly, it counted! Gouphy finished off scoring the goals that counted with another two adding to his tally. Lewwy should arguably have had a hat trick because he had two goals disallowed. The first was deemed as being kicked out of the keepers hands but it was hard to see for sure and another went into the net but unfortunately the ref was a bit early with the whistle, giving FC Phoenix a free kick instead of playing the advantage. The whistle was blown just before the ball entered the net so he couldn’t change it.
The whole of the FC Phoenix team showed their skill and stamina and earned their place in the semi final with pride. The next round has been planned for December 11th at home against Hinton so that will be a juicy meeting too! Excellent work rate and play today & we are proud of all of them.

FC PHOENIX U12’S v LADS CLUB
TIGERS U12’s Sunday 6th November 2011 Home
Game KO 10.30am
RESULT 11-0
This game had FC Phoenix victory written all over it as Lads
Club Tigers struggled to get out of their own half. So much so, you just had to
feel sorry for the Lads Club Boys. In fairness though, they kept their heads
held high and battled as well as they could from start to finish.
Shots at goal were flying in from all directions and Meds
wanted a chance to go up front. Unfortunately he had to stay in goal where we
depend on him so much and we gave the Lads Club Tigers the respect they
deserve. As well as this, we still have out field players who want to get on
the score board, can you imagine the stick they would get if Meds came out and
scored before them? Maybe he can take a penno in a game sometime?
The first goal came with power into the penalty box and a
rebound off a Lads Club Tigers man. Tommo & Wilffy got a goal each and Lewis
got his name on the score board again with two goals.
Ollie and Gouphy continued their goal spree with a hat trick
from each of them taking them both to the top of the goals score board. FC
Phoenix played very well today & a pat on the back for all of them is
deserved. Well done!!!
