It is with great sadness that we hear of Ralph Farmer's passing. He has died at only 59 years of age and we send our heart felt sympathy to his family. Ralph was a dedicated volunteer and a founder member of FC Phoenix. His contribution to our football in the community was recognised when FC Phoenix gained the local FA Charter Standard Club award in Hereford. It was awarded for offering the best practice standards of coaching and safeguarding of children outside of the Football League and was for quality and improving the playing experience for all. Ralph initiated girl’s football in Herefordshire, set up the FC Phoenix Disability Development Centre and was awarded with the Queens Award for Voluntary Work.
Donations are welcome for a memorial bench which can be sent to Shayne Hogg Funeral Services. His funeral will be at 1.30pm Wednesday 26th October 2016 at Hereford Crematorium where visitors are encouraged to where something colourful.
From all at FC Phoenix
We would like to wish everybody a Happy New Year! As 2013 departs and 2014 is upon us, we have luckily escaped any serious bad weather but you can't help feel it might be just around the corner. Although many leagues are quite small and completing games should be easier, we can only hope that the HFA can avoid forcing any teams into playing two to three games in ten days like they've done in the past. Good luck to everyone for the rest of the season!
Pegasus Junior Colts U14 experienced another win in the Hereford Stirling League. They played against Tenbury United U14 on Sunday 29th September 2013 and Meds (formally a goal keeper for FC Phoenix) knocked six goals past the Tenbury keeper. Commiserations go to Tenbury United not only for losing but also for unfortunately having to deal with a serious injury to one of their players. Their player suffered a broken leg and joined many Herefordshire Junior Footballers in A&E on Sunday afternoon with a reported up to six hour waiting time.
Overall score: Tenbury United U14 0-9 Pegasus Junior Colts U14
Well done to Lads Club Under 14's for getting their first point in the 2013/14 HGTA league. Lads Club are one of the new teams to the HGTA league this season after obtaining promotion from the Stirling Suzuki league in 2012/13. They travelled to Leominster Minors on 15th September 2013 and even though Leominster were two goals up at half time, Lads Club came back to draw 3-3 and get a point on the board! They obviously showed character and determination but well done to Leominster also for providing the new comers with a great game.
Congratulations to FC Phoenix under 11's for their first win of the season! On Sunday 8th September 2013 there was only one league fixture in the Herefordshire Junior League and that was FC Phoenix U11 v Bartestree U11. One fixture, first weekend of the 2013-2014 football league and the Phoenix boys picked up the three points, well done!

Congratulations to FC Phoenix U8's for qualifying for the Daniel Cooper Memorial Cup held at Edgar Street starting at 9.45am on Sunday 21st April 2013. And congratulations again to FC Phoenix Under 13's for winning the semi final on 9th December 2012 verses Ludlow Arrows. Although unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances FC Phoenix U13 will forfeit the final and by default the opportunity should be given to Ludlow Arrows. Ludlow will now play the final against Pegasus Juniors U13 at Edgar Street, the home of Hereford United on 20th April 2013 at 11.30am. Entrance costs for spectators are £3 for adults and £1 for children and OAP's.
We understand this has caused major disappointment to players and fans and FC Phoenix apologise for this.
Congratulations to "Sweeney" who won the penalty competition on Thursday 27th September 2012. Sweeney has taken the title, "FC Phoenix Penalty King 2012". Dan Johnston offered his time to try and stop all the lads from scoring from their peno's. Dan isn't a push over in goal as his pedigree goes back several years. He played for Shrewsbury Town and Hereford United so well done to Sweeney for putting 10 of his 14 penalties past Dan. There were a number of quality shots and a fight for second and third place so well done to all.
FC Phoenix are looking for new volunteer football coaches who live in Hereford to help us grow and move to the next level. You don't have to be experienced, just have an understanding of football. You will be required to complete an FA CRB check and if you offer your dedication to FC Phoenix then any football courses that you complete will be refunded.
We have had a lot of interest in the positions available and we would like to note that all positions are based in Hereford and you shouldn't mistake FC Phoenix in Hereford with any other Phoenix clubs nationwide. We need coaches who locally so short notice assistance would be possible. Own transport is essential so if you're interested then please contact us with your details and we will contact you back with more information.
It's a great rewarding role and if you have a child they can join you which is excellent for parent and child bonding.
